it’s going to catch up to you
You don’t really notice how bad it’s gotten until you look at pictures. That was me. People around you will tell you that you look fine but you notice, especially in your face. That’s where it hits you first, then your neck then your stomach…and then before you know it you’re on Google trying to figure out how to lose 10 pounds in 3 days. Trust me, I’ve been there. I’ve tried everything.
It was a dancer back in the day - ballet, tap, jazz and modern dance was my thing. I would eat until my heart’s content and my mom would always say “that’s going to catch up to you one day” but I didn’t listen to her. Me and my dancer physique would always shrug her off like she didn’t know a thing. I couldn’t have been any more wrong. When I got to college and I stopped dancing as intensively, my best friend and I suddenly began on this quest (really a competition) of who was going to keep the weight off.
We were still dancing (hip hop dance, about twice a week) but we would try everything from cooking new meals, to intermittent fasting to drinking smoothies - we would try everything and yet our weight would always fluctuate.
It wasn’t until my senior year of college when the weight actually caught up to me. My mom was right. There weren’t enough smoothie cleanses out there that could get the extra 15-20 pounds off. I’m sure my trainer right now is cringing. But it’s true. Life caught up to me. All the drinking I had done in college, the late night fried foods from the caf really had it out for me.

Alright, I’m really making this sound terrible, I’ve been blessed that I carried the weight “okay” but it could’ve been better - heck, it didn’t have to be there at all! So that’s why I started to take it seriously when the pandemic hit. I figured what a great transformation it will be when I come out of this smaller than when I went in! - ha! Kind of sounds like I just got sentenced to some time in lock-up or something. But for real! I’m going to let you in a bit on my fitness journey because i’ve finally decided to take this thing a little bit more seriously than I have in the past. No more quick fixes, this time it’s a lifestyle shift. I promise! 🤞🏽
